To celebrate the 85th anniversary of the iconic Reverso Watch, Swiss watchmakersJaeger-LeCoultre have teamed up with shoe maestro Christian Louboutin for a cool new collaboration. The Reverso, with its art deco aesthetic has become a blank canvas for the creativity of the renowned shoe designer.

Louboutin’s Reverso is inspired by his travels, a concept that manifests as bright, vibrant, iridescent, and shimmering colors. His creations also showcase the intersection of different worlds from the covered galleries of Paris to the carved wood lattice work of North Africa and oriental stones. For certain models, the designer has also drawn his inspiration from his own shoe collections. Christian believes that a watch is inseparable from its strap, as these two elements form a whole so his watches are imagined in the same way that one creates a jewelry collection, by giving each one a strong, original identity.
Available in two sizes, the Reverso Classic Duetto features simple and unfussy classical Art Deco lines on the front, while the back -with two rows of diamonds on either side of the dial- has Christian Louboutin’s whimsical touch!

Edgardo Osorio is taking a break from helming the ship at Aquazzura to design a capsule collection for Salvatore Ferragamo. The capsule collection marks the 100th anniversary of the company’s collaboration with Hollywood. These 12 party ready styles use a range of colors and materials from patent leather, suede, napa to cork, and embellishments that include bows, lace, wings, stones and even feathers.

“Edgardo’s South American culture and his sophisticated creative aesthetic embody Ferragamo’s lifestyle. The collection perfectly reinterprets the real spirit of Salvatore: ironic, playful, attentive to details, creative with a touch of originality, all combined with comfort and luxury,” Massimiliano Giornetti (creative director at Salvatore Ferragamo) told Women’s Wear Daily.

“For me it’s an honor to reinterpret the extraordinary style of Salvatore Ferragamo for a new generation of women,” Edgardo Osorio remarked, “This collaboration is very important for me because it marks the first 10 years of my career, which started in Ferragamo at 19: my first job in the world of luxury footwear.”

How to Extend the Wear of Your Sneakers

Designer Shoes

Did you know you could throw your sneakers in the washing machine? Here’s a look at how, along with a few other tips on how to extent the wear of your sneakers from two pro runners. Not that any of these tips (unfortunately!) are stopping me from wanting one of every sneaker APL comes out with…

Trainer at Barry’s Bootcamp, Matt Nolan
Obviously everyone has a different running style. Personally, I like to dedicate one pair of shoes to only running. I use a different set of sneakers for other activities like basketball, tennis, casual wear, etc. By only using my running shoes to actually run, I can extend the life of those sneakers by almost two months.

I always machine wash my shoes, every three weeks or so. I remove the insoles and wash the sneakers alone in the machine. After washing I let them air dry by an open window. This keeps them looking clean and new and, of course, smelling fresh.

Nail polish remover is the secret to removing those annoying skids and black marks we get on our shoes.  Just mix the solution with a little bit of warm water, use cotton balls or a Q-tip, and some good old-fashioned elbow grease. This will keep those new shoes looking like they just came out of the box!

Personal Trainer at Crunch, Allynn Simons
Look at the sneaker; If the cushioning is compressed a lot OR if your foot print is permanently indented in the sole, then it is time to get new sneakers. Usually a good pair of sneakers last about six months.

Get sneaker balls, little deodorized balls that help keep your kicks smelling fresh – or you can use dryer sheets.

Keep them clean; wipe them down and hand wash them with Woolite. This ensures that they will always look “fresh.”

Rodarte x Superga: Look Fresh in Mesh

Designer Shoes

Rodarte x Superga

With all the gorgeous weather as of late, you’re finally getting outside and exploring, and as much as I love a platform pump, some adventures require a little more (okay – a lot more) comfort. Think about it: the better you feel throughout the day, the longer you can continue your shopping spree! Sure, there are a lot of designer kicks to choose from, but few brands do it for as great a price as Rodarte and Superga are. This capsule collection from Laura and Kate Mulleavy and the maker of Italy’s favorite sneakers includes six high and low-top styles defined by texture-blocking with the likes of everything from embossed leather snakeskin to denim to cotton, all finished with mesh overlays. Yeah, one guess which shoes we’ll see dominating street style for the next few months…
