Louis Vuitton Fall 2015 Campaign
Louis Vuitton
On the eve of the fall-winter season, fashion designers keep us intrigued by new updates every now and then, installing no more than one or two pictures of their recent campaigns. Each has its own trick: Mark Jacobs, for instance, surprises everyone with unusual images of Sofia Coppola and Winona Ryder adding descriptions of those images in detail. Louis Vuitton artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière, unlike his peer colleague, seems quite stingy in words being extremely laconic. He has tapped famous photographers Bruce Weber and Juergen Teller for the Louis Vuitton fall/winter 2015-2016 campaign, and keeps uploading pictures from their thrilling photoshoots. The campaign has been named “Series 3”. A few days ago, two pictures appeared in Ghesquière’s Instagram, in the first of which we were amazed to see the 26-year-old Swiss dancer and actress Alicia Vikander. Being the big fan of Ghesquière’s art and creations, she has lately become the new face of the brand and a muse for the French house. The second picture portrayed the 19-year-old promising model Rianne van Rompaey from The Netherlands in strong imagery.
Only a day later a new image featuring “Requiem for a dream” star Jennifer Connelly appeared in the web. We were anticipating the appearance of the 44-year-old actress in the campaign of LV, as long as she is another muse of Ghesquière. Vikander joined Vuitton stalwart Connelly in the fall spots, planning to break the fashion titles of August. The fourth image did not keep us waiting too long and appeared the next day. The Australian model and star of LV’s fall-winter collection show Fernanda Ly made an immense jaw-dropping impression with a powerful look spiced up with pink hair.
Seeking to represent diverse ages and nationalities, Ghesquière also cast the Ethiopian supermodel, designer and actress Liya Kebede, gorgeous models Freja Beha Erichsen, Angel Rutlege and Julia Merkelbach to be featured in the Louis Vuitton fall 2015 advertisements. To represent the character of LV’s fall-winter collection, Teller took photographs of Fernanda Ly, Angel Rutlege and Liya Kebede at a utopian home for a sculptor near Barcelona, Spain. Bruce Weber took Freja Beha Erichsen, Rianne von Rompaey and Julia Merkelbach to a private Miami airport to take his shoots. We can smell a winking hint to Louis Vuitton’s travel heritage in this idea: well done Weber!

Being extremely happy to see the new muse of Louis Vuitton Alicia Vikander, we should mention it was a genuine step. Alicia is going to appear in eight movies this year, including “Ex Machina”, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” “The Danish Girl,” “Tulip Fever” and “The Light Between Oceans.” We have no doubt she will have immense success and a breakthrough fame with these, and appearing as a fashion muse of the renowned French house will only add to the excitement providing a boom for both Vikander and LV.
Remembering the rumors about Selena Gomez becoming the new fresh face of the luxury brand, we are eager to see her in the campaign as well quite soon. Yesterday Selena uploaded a new picture of her, Ghesquière and Michelle Williams on her Facebook page with the inscription “TBT with Michelle and @nicolasghesquiereofficial for @louisvuitton”, which we guess is a proving hint for our predictions. Rock the beauty collection, Selena!

Louis Vuitton Unveils Fall 2015 Ad Campaign, Featuring Some New Bags
Louis Vuitton
If you've been tuned into Louis Vuitton's and creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere's various social media channels over the past week, you've probably seen this coming little by little, but we now have enough of the Louis Vuitton Fall 2015 ad campaign, dubbed Series 3 by the designer, to collect and evaluate the effort.
As the name indicates, these photos are similar in style and content to Ghesquiere's two previous major campaigns for Vuitton, Series 1 and Series 2. According to Women's Wear Daily, the campaign's photos were taken by two of the three super-photographers who snapped the first two campaigns, Juergen Teller and Bruce Weber. (Annie Leibovitz was the third; she appears to have sat this round out.)
The photos include faces that will be familiar to the brand's fans, like Jennifer Connelly and Freja Beha Erichsen, as well as Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, whom Ghesquiere has named the brand's new muse. All the currently available images include bags from the brand's Fall 2015 runway show; you can check out the ads below and all the bags from the show in our review.
Louis Vuitton Has Seriously Expanded Its Selection of Exotic Bags
Louis Vuitton
It's an interesting time to be in the ultra-luxury business because no one really knows where the top of the market is. In a climate when a pre-owned Birkin can break records by selling at auction for well into the six figures, there's a seemingly insatiable thirst for novelty and rarity among the world's super rich.
There are relatively few brands in a position to sate that thirst, but those who can have been publicly offering ever more exotics over the past few seasons. The most notable exotic push in recent memory, though, is the one Louis Vuitton is making right now, and many of the bags have recently become available for perusal, including price information, on the brand's website. That is a shift in course in and of itself; for years, the brand kept its most expensive bags off general consumer radar.
Doing more top-tier leather goods has been a stated goal of LV's for some time now, and the bags below seem to represent the logical extreme of that strategy. They range in prices from a little over $7,000 to $50,000, with several priced above $40,000. If you had that much to spend on a bag, would these make your list?
